EIGHT SECONDS / EIGHT WEEKS
EIGHT SECONDS / EIGHT WEEKS
Kristina Rose Baker
Artist-in-Residence Exhibition
Opening Reception: Sunday, July 12, 3–5PM
Exhibition Dates: July 12 – August 12, 2026
Laguna Lab, 117 Morris Street, Sebastopol
Laguna Lab presents Eight Seconds / Eight Weeks, an exhibition of paintings by Kristina Rose Baker, the inaugural Artist-in-Residence at Laguna Lab. Created entirely during her eight-week residency and inspired by the landscapes and communities of Sonoma County, the work explores the American West as both lived experience and metaphor.
The exhibition's title draws a parallel between the eight-second ride of a bull rider and the duration of the residency itself. The resulting paintings developed as a poetic comparison between bull riding and maintaining a painting practice — the uncertain, unpredictable nature of making a painting demands instinct, risk-taking, and perseverance in order to "ride the bull" without being bucked off.
Alongside completed paintings, the exhibition includes works in progress, offering a glimpse into the evolving process behind the finished works and inviting viewers to experience painting not only as a final resting image, but as an ongoing site of exploration and discovery.
Studio photography by Julia Maryanska.

About the Artist
Nathalie Kardjian is a multidisciplinary, cross-cultural artist based in Los Angeles. Her practice centers on storytelling across visual, cinematic, and performative forms, using abstraction to hold memory, displacement, and lived experience. Working across painting, photography, film, and documentary theater, her work explores the psychological traces of resilience and survival through personal and collective narratives.
Nathalie draws inspiration from the world around her, the struggles her generation has faced, her own lived experiences, and the human stories that unfold every day. Anything can spark creativity, but for her, true creation begins when there is nothing left to lose—a philosophy that shapes a practice driven by instinct, emotional honesty, and deep observation.
Alongside her studio work, Nathalie is the founder, director, and producer of Hair Lock Stories, an ongoing documentary project examining identity, connection, memory, and resilience across borders. The project extends beyond film into live documentary theater, exhibitions, and printed works. She has curated community-based exhibitions and pop-ups at her DTLA studio and expanded her visual language into merchandise featuring her original artwork. As a performer, she has acted in short films, commercial projects, and narrative storytelling.
After years of living and working in San Francisco and the Bay Area, Nathalie developed a parallel career in technology as an AI conversation designer and data analyst. Traveling between the Bay Area and Los Angeles, she navigates the spaces between logic and emotion, systems and storytelling. This oscillation informs her artistic language, where analytical precision meets human vulnerability, shaping a practice rooted in both intelligence and instinct.

Tone Ranger + Siren & Seer + DJs Dragonfly & Timoteo Gigante
Join us for an immersive night of forward-thinking sound and deep dancefloor connection featuring Tone Ranger and Siren & Seer, with support from DJs Dragonfly and Timoteo Gigante.
Tone Ranger crafts infectious dance music rooted in the mysterious beauty of the American Southwest. A composer, producer, and sought-after collaborator, he draws on a decade of wanderings through desert plateaus, remote forests, and multicultural borderlands to create soundscapes that are at once ancient and futuristic. Since his 2018 debut EP, Tone Ranger has become one of the most distinctive artists in the Southwest. From opening slots for electronic icons Orbital and Thievery Corporation to recent appearances at Shambhala and Burning Man, he has forged a reputation for transporting crowds into vivid sonic landscapes.
Siren & Seer is the evolving vision of producer/singer-songwriter Diamonde, alongside multi-instrumentalist and producer saQi. Rooted in the hills of Northern California, the project bridges ancestral memory with a futuristic pulse. Folk mysticism, gritty Americana and blues-soaked soul dissolve into deep, modern bass and cutting-edge electronic production. Siren & Seer shapes a sound that feels like a backwoods ritual colliding with a deep dance party. Earthy banjo, haunting vocals, and cinematic textures weave through thick low-end, hypnotic beats, and a wicked, dancefloor-ready edge.
The duo crafts a multi-dimensional world where vulnerability belongs on the dance floor.
Setting the tone for the night, DJ Dragonfly delivers a dynamic, globe-spanning DJ set rooted in rhythm and exploration. Known for his intuitive, unplanned approach, his sets move fluidly across genres and tempos — blending global bass, tribal percussion, and deep electronic textures into a cohesive, high-energy journey.
Rounding out the lineup, DJ Timoteo Gigante brings decades of experience and an unmistakable musical sensibility shaped by soul, funk, hip-hop, jazz, house, and worldwide influences. As a founding force behind the Motown on Mondays movement, his sets are rooted in taste, feeling, and a deep love for the dancefloor.
Expect a night of rich sonic landscapes, boundary-crossing performances, and a community-centered atmosphere built for movement and connection.

Art + Dance Party at Laguna Lab
Saturday, November 15 · 2PM–12AM
117 Morris Street · Sebastopol
About the Event
THE FUTURE is an all-day art party and open house celebrating the launch of Laguna Lab — Sebastopol’s emerging hub for experimental culture, art, music, movement, and technology.
LagunaLab.org is an experimental platform for creative expression — a place where uncertainty isn’t avoided, it’s engineered. Based in Sebastopol, we operate on the edge between analog and digital culture, between form and flux. Our mission is to prototype the future of creative practice through bold, iterative experimentation. We build systems, not exhibits; experiences, not artifacts.
This event brings that mission to life — a collision of workshops, performances, and spontaneous collaboration. Across ten hours of live music, art-making, and immersive play, artists, musicians, and thinkers converge to test new forms of culture. Expect sound, ink, movement, food, and light — and maybe a few surprises.
Program Schedule
2PM — Open Figure Drawing Workshop
Collaborative large-scale figure drawing with a live model, music, and creative experimentation.
4PM — Sakoyana (Live)
Sebastopol’s shape-shifting ensemble — rhythm, sound, and improvisation.
5PM — Shodō (Calligraphy) with JunJun
Live, large-scale performance in motion and ink.
6PM — Community Dinner + Laguna Lab Presentation
Join us for a simple vegetarian meal and a short talk on Laguna Lab’s vision and upcoming programming — including youth workshops, artist residencies, and new collaborative projects.

9PM — Tracervision
10PM — DJ Dyops + Érica Ambrin (Live)
12AM — Mac Skinner (Wolfpack)
1AM — Zaphod + Sophia Rayne
All night: interactive shadow puppetry, silent art auction, and a continuously transforming environment between light, sound, and movement.
